Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo is known for its warm climate, beaches, and activities, making it a popular destination year-round. This city is the perfect mix of both Local and Touristy with a mix of modern amenities and traditional Mexican charm.
– Where is Ixtapa –
Ixtapa is located on the Pacific coast of Mexico, specifically in the state of Guerrero. It is situated in the southwestern part of the country. Ixtapa is known for its beautiful beaches, modern resorts, and tourist amenities, and it is often a popular destination for both domestic and international travelers
Zihjatenejo has a small airport that you can fly directly into and is the closest option. If you are flying in from out of Mexico you will most likely have to transfer to a smaller plane in a bigger airport like Mexico City.

– Where to Stay –
Like most big vacation spots in Mexico, there are dozens of places to stay. I suggest staying in Zihuatanejo; Just a short drive from Ixtapa is the charming fishing town of Zihuatanejo. It offers a more relaxed and authentic Mexican experience compared to the resort-heavy Ixtapa.
You can also stay in the more popular Ixtapa Beach (Playa El Palmar) This is the main beach in Ixtapa and is home to many upscale resorts and hotels. If you want easy access to the beach and a lively atmosphere, staying in this area might be your best choice. You’ll find a wide range of restaurants and activities nearby.

– What to do –
Isla Ixtapa:
Take a boat trip to Isla Ixtapa (Ixtapa Island), a small island just off the coast. It’s a great place for snorkeling and enjoying a meal at one of the beachside restaurants.

Visit Zihuatanejo:
Explore the nearby town of Zihuatanejo, known for its charming streets, art galleries, and fresh seafood. You can also visit the local market to shop for souvenirs, pottery, and local handicrafts.
Ixtapa Marina:
If you’re interested in boating or fishing, visit the Ixtapa Marina. You can take a fishing excursion, rent a boat, or simply enjoy a meal at one of the waterfront restaurants.

Cocodrilario Tamakun:
There is this huge pit full of iguanas, and crocodiles right by Zihuatanejo. There are boardwalks surrounding the pit so you can admire from a safe distance.
Parasailing:
There are parasailing companies lining the beaches of Ixtapa that offer a longer and much cheaper experience than anything in America. They only take cash so be ready with enough to pay for the experience + tip.
That’s all for now! I’ll see you,
