The Big Yellow Inn: An Antique Lover’s Dream Bed and Breakfast in Utah

Vintage libraries, uniquely individual themed rooms, breakfast served on crystal-cut antique glassware. My dream stay.

Located between some of the most iconic National Parks in the southwest, Cedar City is a great stopping point for those looking to rest before continuing their travels.

The Big Yellow Inn is the perfect place to stay if you’re looking for something a little more unique for an affordable price.

Location:

The bed and breakfast is in the middle of Cedar City, making it easy to walk into the town for dinner or for the annual award-winning Shakespearean Festival.

Cedar City itself is a phenomenal location, only 15 minutes to the northern entrance to Zion National Park and 1 hour from the main entrance. 90 minutes to Bryce Canyon National Park. 40 minutes to Cedar Breaks & Brian Head Ski Resort. 3 hours to Capitol Reef National Park and 2 hours to Great Basin National Park.

Accommodation & Amenities:

The Inn has about 12 rooms, each one with a different theme. The entire building, however, is built in the traditional Georgian Revival style and carries that theme throughout the 3 sitting rooms, library, patios, courtyard, and grand stairwells.

You can choose your room from some of the many options, which include: the Safari Room, the Bon Voyage Room, the English Room, etc.

Some rooms have private balconies, fireplaces, and soaking tubs.

We were upgraded to the Master Suite, although we originally booked the lodge.

The entire suite was decorated in tapestries, particularly adorned with French aristocratic imagery. The china displayed in the two rooms was a great touch, something that I appreciated as an antique glassware collector myself. This suite is the only one that has its own entrance, located on the side of the building.

There is a free full hot breakfast each morning, which is served in the lavish dining room.

The property includes Free WiFi, free on-site self-parking, a garden, a terrace, a picnic area for relaxing outdoors, and shared spaces including a library and sitting rooms, all accessible throughout your stay.

Other Notes:

The couple running the Airbnb are amazing hosts, even though the entire place is decked out with antiques, the space looked and felt clean. Something that can be hard to find in bed and breakfasts.

The stay was also very affordable, cheaper even than the nearby chain hotels.

So if you are looking for a charming, vintage-y stay in Utah, then this is the place.
